José Roberto Bassul



Architect and photographer, José Roberto Bassul was born in Rio de Janeiro and lives in Brasilia. His authorial photography turns to architecture, urban landscape, and contemporary aspects of metropolitan life. Articulator of geometric compositions that dilute the photographic language in evocations of the engraving and the drawing, it directs its main visual research for the search of abstract and minimalist images, constructed by the incidence of the light in the buildings. Awarded in prestigious photography events in Brazil and abroad - such as the ParatyEmFoco International Festival, the Sony World Photography Awards, the International Photo Awards, the Siena International Photography Awards, the Prix de la Photographie Paris PX3 and the Tokyo Photo Awards, among others, Bassul regularly exhibits his work in individual and collective shows. His works were published in the electronic magazine, BEX Magazine (Argentina), Magazine PHOTO, French, and B & W Magazine, American. In 2018 he published the book "Concretist Landscape", which won the gold award in the category photobooks of the Prix de la Photographie Paris PX3 - 2018. He has works in the Joaquim Paiva collection and other important private collections, and in the collections of the National Museum of the Republic, in Brasilia, and the Museum of Art of Rio - MAR, in Rio de Janeiro.
